Carswell Holidays Dairy Tour
Carswell Farm is an organic working dairy farm, and while we can’t offer hands on experience on the farm, you will usually see some of our cows or calves in the fields around the cottages. We do also offer you the chance to come and watch the cows being milked – just contact Jo before or during your stay to arrange a suitable day. We meet you at your cottage at 3.15pm, then drive about a mile to the milking parlour. Wellies or boots are advised.
SCHOOL VISITS
School Visits
We are passionate about food and farming being part of the school curriculum. We are one of many UK farms providing practical on-farm experiences for Children.
Teaming up with our nearby schools, local children are engaged in on-going, seasonal food and farming education. Science, English, Maths, Art, Geography are all enhanced through visits to the farm and at the same time children gain a healthy understanding and first hand experience of production, provenance and conservation.
From apple pressing to making “low-food-miles” granola and national worm count surveys – over 7 years at primary school – each child will have 21 impressionable days at the farm and many of them want to be farmers at the end of it!
